Remembrance Memorial Charitable Trust
An active act of remembering, dedicated to US Service members who have lost their lives in Iraq & Afghanistan, as well as those who continue to serve.
There are several ways that individuals or organizations may contribute to the Remembrance Memorial. Attend a Remembrance workshop- Participants will create abstract figurative sculptures to update Remembrance as new casualties are realized. Children 14 or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This is a Memorial in process and will continue until all fallen soldiers are represented. Please check the schedule of events page to locate a workshop in your area. All materials provided. No fee required, however donations accepted. 501(c)3 application prepared and filed by Attorneys & Counselors at Law 20 Park Plaza Boston MA 02116
Donate materials - Hand sewing needles, thread, unopened boxes of black tea bags, buttons, sequins, muted colored fabrics. (please no harsh colors)
Adopt-a-Case - Double-sided Plexiglas cases that house the 5,400+ abstract figurative sculptures representing fallen soldiers are being constructed by Troy City Woodwork located in Fall River, Massachusetts. They have generously donated materials and labor towards the cost of the construction of the 22+ cases that now house the figures. However, more are needed to keep up with growing casualties. The cost, less the partial donation of materials and labor, is $600 per 6’x3’case or $1200 per hinged set.
The cases are an integral part of the Remembrance Memorial. Each is specifically designed and engineered by artisans employed at Troy City Woodwork to showcase the sacrifices of U.S. Servicemen and Women who have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan thus far. Each poplar frame is handcrafted and a two inch grid is hand woven using 50lb filament. Lastly, cases are finished with a neutral, gun metal gray stain. The juxtaposition of the organic, free-form figures and the mechanical structure of the case further emphasize the humane quality of the installation.
If you or your business would like to Adopt-a-Case by donating the full cost of $600, an engraved plaque with your name will be attached signifying your sponsorship and support.
As of February, 2011 there are 400+ figures representing fallen service members awaiting frames - Please donate generously.
Monetary donations - Remembrance is funded entirely by private and corporate donations. Funds are used to pay for materials, Plexiglas cases, and the transportation of the Memorial to and from exhibit sites. Every dollar helps; no donation is too small.
